Combining acoustic rock and folk with elements of pop, k8 is a talented singer/songwriter from Wilkes-Barre, PA.  Her unique way of telling a dark story with a happy feeling song is unparalleled.  With a bittersweet mixture of poignant lyrics and a powerful, expressive voice, k8's music truly conveys the range of emotions in her writing.

Inspired by musicians like Alice Peacock, Patty Griffin, Beth Hart, Darcie Miner, and the Indigo Girls, her earlier influences, she admits, were artists like Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson.   k8 realized even as a young teenager that she wanted to pursue a career in music. She explains, “I always knew that I wanted music to be a part of my life, but it wasn’t until I was 13 and saw that Mariah Carey was a writer on her album that I realized writing and performing music was something I could actually do for a living.”

Today, she’s all grown up and doing it for a living.  k8 performs mainly as a solo artist, but has been known to bring in some talented musician friends for duo and full band performances on special occasions.

Shortly after releasing her debut EP, “Something Out of Nothing,” she appeared on the MTV Books release, “Lit Riffs (The Soundtrack)” and was most recently featured in the latest Days Inn commercial singing "Keep On the Sunny Side" which aired nationwide in television and radio formats.

k8 is currently in the studio working on her second album and 2 of the first tracks recorded are already creating a buzz.  (Some lucky fans have been getting free copies of these new songs at k8's shows).  The new album, for which the title has not yet been released, is expected to be out sometime before 2012.

k8 enjoys regular airplay on 102.3 WAMT The Mountain (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA), 97.9X (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania ) and is frequently featured on commercial radio station specialty shows and college radio.
